Welcome to Troop 95 Sparta, New Jersey.

If you are interested in joining Scouts BSA Troops 95(Boys), or Troop 1095(Girls), please contact Scoutmaster, Don Fowler at join@troop95.mytroop.us

Chartered to VFW Post 7248 on March 1st, 1962, we meet every Monday night at Helen Morgan School, 7:30pm (as long as school is in session)

We hope that you will find this website to be a useful tool for providing you with up-to-date information regarding the activities of our troop, and that your son’s journey through Scouting will be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. You will see your son grow in many ways and he will receive a wide range of opportunities and experiences in the program.

Note that parents and new scouts may be surprised to see how different Boy Scouting is from Cub Scouting.

The Cub Scout program is family-centered, while the Boy Scout program is Scout / Youth-centered. Scouts themselves provide the planning and leadership for Troop 95 Scout activities (with adult guidance). The Scouts elect their troop leadership and plan activities (with adult guidance) to participate with other Scouts within his patrol under Scout leadership. Activities like camping, backpacking, hiking, Summer Camp are central components of the Troop 95 program.

A Boy Scout advances at his own pace and is required to seek out advancement opportunities and Scoutmaster Conferences. In addition to rank advancement, Scouts also earn Merit Badges, and for the ranks of Star, Life and Eagle, merit badges are required. Scouts learn about sports, crafts, science, trades, business, and future careers as they earn those merit badges.

The aim of Boy Scouting is to build character, foster citizenship and develop moral and physical fitness.  We use the outdoors to teach the boys to share responsibilities and to live with one another. This is where the skills learned and practiced during the meetings are utilized. Regular attendance at weekly meetings, monthly campouts and community service projects is expected of each scout. Such participation is the key to rank advancement and the individual character development that we promote as a troop and desire of each scout in our troop.

If you know of a boy that may be interested in joining our troop, either contact us or have him stop by (with a parent) at a meeting any Monday night that school is in session. Remember no experience is necessary!
